On the walls of the galleries at the vernissages or on the stands of art fairs, it is sometimes possible to notice small “red dots” attached to the sides of the works or on the captions.

In the sale of works of art the “red dots” can have multiple meanings, but some of them are more important than others.

Is it just a strategy or does it have a real function?
Perhaps both, and the answers are surprising …
